Bears novice WR Rome Odunze is ‘week to week’ after hurting knee in season opener

Chicago Bears receiver Rome Odunze had an MRI on Monday for a knee injury he suffered the previous day in his NFL launching, coach Matt Eberflus stated. Odunze is now “week to week” with a sprained MCL, as veryfirst reported by ESPN.

Eberflus stated he believes Odunze was hurt stopping throughout Sunday’s 24-17 season-opening win over the Tennessee Titans. 

The No. 9 general choice, Odunze had one catch versus the Titans. He was seen hopping towards the sideline throughout D’Andre Swift’s 20-yard run with 4: 22 left in the videogame.

“I puton’t have enough details yet,” Eberflus stated. “We’ll see on Wednesday.”

The Bears revamped their offense in the offseason, preparing quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 total choice and packing up around the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner out of USC.

Odunze is part of a possibly powerful trio in Chicago after leading the country with a school-record 1,640 lawns for Washington last season. The Bears likewise made a hit trade for a receiver for the 2nd straight year, getting six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers after obtaining DJ Moore from Carolina in 2023.

The Bears will next travel to Houston, where they will take on the Texans in a “Sunday Night Football” face-off on Sept. 15.
