Euros 2024: Germany coach needs handball guideline modification after Spain defeat

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann advised soccer chiefs to revamp the sport’s questionable handball guideline, as the racket surrounding his group’s exit from Euro 2024 continued on Saturday.

Television shows in the host country was filled with replays of the crucial minute throughout Germany’s quarterfinal defeat to Spain on Friday, when a ball struck Spanish protector Marc Cucurella’s arm after a shot from Jamal Musiala.

Referee Anthony Taylor ruled that there hadactually been no violation, and the host country was lateron removed by Mikel Merino’s late header in additional time.

Nagelsmann did not disagreement the call’s authenticity — though plenty of fans and TELEVISION experts did — however firmlyinsisted that the present policies were neither reasonable nor quickly translated.

“There is a guideline and I hope there is no incorrect choice,” Nagelsmann informed pressreporters. “They used the guideline and it was not a charge. I do not feel cheated. For me, the concern is about making it more useful, more rational, in terms of how this handball guideline is evaluated. 

“You appearance at the hand, if it is at 3 o’clock, if it is a bit greater or a bit lower. But there are individuals with larger muscles than me, various motions.”

Nagelsmann was referring to the part of the guideline that refers to a protector’s hand being in a “natural” or “unnatural” position. Cucurella was assisted by the truth that his arm was close to the side of his body and that it was not extended forward. Had either of those things been the case, a spot-kick would mostlikely haveactually been provided.

Earlier in the competition, throughout Germany’s round of 16 clash, a ball snapped the hand of Denmark’s Joachim Andersen while his hand was in front of his body.

“I puton’t comprehend why we wear’t take into account what is occurring with the ball,” Nagelsmann included. “If Musiala kicks it towards Stuttgart and it strikes the hand, I won’t state anything. Nagelsmann is not the just head coach left annoyed. Indeed, Denmark’s Kasper Hjulmand, on the getting end after his group was knocked out by Germany, earlier made his ideas clear.

“I’m so tired of the ludicrous handball guidelines,” Hjulmand stated.
