So what I’m going to do here is break down the differences as well as the discounts on the various lines of Nespresso machine, including the new and more complex Creatista line, which works sort of like a super-automatic espresso machine. While all Nespresso machines use one of only two kinds of recyclable coffee capsules and operate very simply, there are differences that may make you partial towards one or another.
The main thing you need to know is that there are two lines of machines: The Original Line and the Vertuo Line (sometimes written as Verutoline) and you need Original capsules for Original machines and Vertuo capsules for Vertuo machines. I’ve broken down the differences between the lines below, and shared defining details about specific machines in each line that are discounted during this Cyber Monday sale.

What to know about Nespresso Vertuoline machines
Introduced in 2014, Nespresso’s Vertuoline modernized the brand’s original pressure-brew method and marked the true beginning of Nespresso espresso and coffee machines. Vertuo machines feature just one button and brew both coffee and espresso-style shots using a centrifugal method. Once you choose your preferred pod based on style, roast, and cup size, all you have to do is push the machine’s single button and let it take the wheel. That’s because the rim of every dome-shaped Vertuo pod features a barcode that tells the machine exactly how much water and what extraction speed to use to get the very best cup of coffee or espresso-style shot out of each pod. Depending on the model you get, a Vertuoline Nespresso machine brew everything from single and double espresso shots to a full 18-ounce carafe—yes, from a single pod. And sure, there are better ways to brew coffee at home, but none are this simple, consistent, or convenient.
Nespresso VertuoPlus
The VertuoPlus is the best Nespresso machine for busy coffee drinkers who care about taste and quality but don’t have time for a morning coffee ritual and would rather not spend a lot of time cleaning a machine. This Nespresso coffee machine is sleek, easy to use, and requires virtually no maintenance. You’ll notice slight visual variations on this machine based on the manufacturer (Nespresso partners with various manufacturers including Breville and DeLonghi and they also have their own manufacturing facilities throughout Europe), water reservoir size, and color, but they all do the same thing—which is make high-quality coffee and espresso-style shots at the touch of a button. If you want to make lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos at home, look for a VertuoPlus bundled with the Aeroccino Milk Frother. It makes hot and cold frothed milk also at (you guessed it) the push of a button.

Nespresso Vertuo Next
Enabled with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, the deluxe and high-tech Nespresso Vertuo Next can brew 18 ounces of coffee from a single pod. Customer reviews are mixed on the Next, but if you’re intrigued by the tech or pod yield, it’s worth a try—especially considering Nespresso’s 30-day return policy, warranty, and reputation for maintenance and machine repairs.

Modeled on the Vertuo Next, this compact cutie is one of the newer Vertuo machines. It’s shorter than the Next so it’s perfect for someone who’s short on space but still wants the convenience of the Vertuoline. The Pop Plus machines have slightly bigger water reservoirs than the Pop models, and they can hold more used capsules, but all of the machines have small-kitchen-friendly footprints. Right now, you can get a deal on a limited-edition Pop Plus with higher-end finishes.

Do-it-all Nespresso Vertuo machines
Nespresso has released two machines in the last couple of years that do more than just coffee and espresso. The Nespresso Vertuo Creatista is the first machine in the Vertuoline with a built-in steam wand. It’s not quite a one-touch cappuccino machine because brewing espresso from a pod and steaming the milk are two separate processes. But if you want the look of a real espresso machine (well, if you don’t look too closely), stainless steel body and all with the convenience of Nespresso Vertuo capsules, the Vertuo Creatista is a great option. The newest Vertuo machine, the Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima, is a one-touch machine that makes coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, and latte macchiatos at the push of a button. And today you can get one on sale. It reminds us of a Nespresso version of this automatic espresso machine from De’longhi, which the testers over at Epicurious reviewed quite well.

Cyber Monday deals on OriginalLine Nespresso machines
What to know about Nespresso OriginalLine machines
Until the Vertuoline was introduced in 2014, the OriginalLine machines were simply known as Nespresso machines. These models brew either single or lungo (Italian for “long”) espresso-style shots from any compatible pod using a pressure-driven method. The Original Line features a collection of compact pod-only machines (Nespresso CitiZ, Nespresso Essenza Mini, and Nespresso Pixie) as well as a variety of pricier Creatista and Lattissima models, with built-in steam wands or other automatic milk frothers. I rarely see the compact Original machines go on sale, but here are the Nespresso Original Line models you can find for a deal today.
Nespresso Lattissima
These one-touch espresso and latte machines make a variety of one-touch milk drinks and have built-in milk cleaning functions that do a lot (but not all) of the daily maintenance so you don’t have to.

Nespresso Aeroccino3
If your Nespresso machine doesn’t come with a milk frother, and you want the ability to make lattes and cappuccinos, I highly recommend adding this sleek frother to your cart while it’s on sale. Nespresso’s Aerocinno 3 can make both hot and cold foam at the push of the machine’s single button (you just hold it down a little longer if you want cold frothed milk), so you can use it to make your own version of a Starbucks cold foam iced coffee situation in the summer (yes, you can even get Starbucks pods for your Nespresso machine). You can also use it to make milk foam for hot chocolate or festive Christmas drinks. Sometimes, when my kids as for “warm frothy milk” I fill the cup halfway with cold milk and then add in hot-frothy milk from my Aeroccino 3 and it’s always a hit!

Cyber Monday Nespresso capsule deals
If you already have a Nespresso machine, you’re probably well aware of Nespresso’s capsule subscription service. You probably also know Nespresso often offers gifts with big enough orders of their espresso and coffee pods—and that they rarely (if ever) put the pods on sale. Discounted Nespresso pods aren’t impossible to come by though, as retailers like Amazon and Target sometimes offer deals on Nespresso or Nespresso-compatible pods. And right now, the Walmart and Amazon Cyber Monday deals do indeed include Originalline pods.
