May 8 (UPI) — General Motors revealed Wednesday it will shut down production of the Chevrolet Malibu for the 2nd time in the vehicle’s 60-year history, as the Detroit carmanufacturer shifts its focus to electrical lorries.
GM stated it will stop production the gas-powered Chevy Malibu in November, enabling the business to invest $390 million at its Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas for the Chevrolet Bolt EV.
“To assistin the setup of tooling and other plant adjustments, after 9 generations and over 10 million international sales, GM will end production of the Chevrolet Malibu in November 2024 and timeout production of the Cadillac XT4 after January 2025,” a GM representative informed The Detroit News in a declaration.
