Kentucky Public Schools Reveal Improvement Plans After First Day Ended With Late Evening School Bus Drop-Offs

After simply one day of the 2023-2024 school year, school authorities in Kentucky haveactually canceled days 2 and 3. This comes after modifications to the school start times and bus paths thwarted trainee drop-offs. On day one (Aug.9), some trainees supposedly got house at almost 10 p.m., per the Associated Press.

The short-lived closures used to Jefferson County Public Schools. Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio made the statement on Thursday earlymorning, beginning with apologies.

“Today, after making one of the most hard, if not the most tough, choices of my superintendent profession, and that was to cancel day 2 and day 3 of the school year, Thursday and Friday. First and primary, I desire to take this chance to askforgiveness for last night,” Dr.Pollio stated. First, I desire to askforgiveness to our trainees. I understand numerous of you had to wait on buses or wait in your school for anumberof hours, and I genuinely askforgiveness for that. I understand how unnerving and upsetting that should of been for even our youngest trainees, however all of our trainees. I really apolgize to you.”

JCPS’ Superintendent Pollio likewise saidsorry to the momsanddads, relating to their distress through his experience as a dad.

“I askforgiveness to our households, our momsanddads. I understand as a father what that should of been like, how unnerving that needto haveactually been, waiting for your kid to get house and not understanding precisely  where they are or were. I really saysorry for that.”
