Zimbabwe has officially added Munhumutapa Day to the 2025 calendar as a public holiday. This new holiday, scheduled for the 15th of September, coincides with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s birthday.
The Inauguration of Munhumutapa Day
Munhumutapa Day was introduced during the President’s 82nd birthday celebration in 2024. The event, attended by over 30,000 people, marked the formal launch of the holiday. The theme for the occasion was “Rooted in the Past, Drawing Towards a Bright Future: Empowering Youths for Nation Building and Vision 2030.”
Organized by the Zanu PF Youth League, the event highlighted the importance of youth empowerment in driving Zimbabwe’s future development.
