March 24 (UPI) — Safety issues triggered New York City Mayor Eric Adams to cancel a journey to the U.S.-Mexico border Sunday, his workplace revealed.
Adams was arranged to leave Saturday night to goto Brownsville and McAllen, Texas and arranged to fulfill with U.S. migration leaders as his city hasahardtime to home brand-new migrants lookingfor asylum.
His representative Amaris Cockfield stated Sunday that The State Department revealed security issues at one of the mayor’s prepared stops in Mexico, and the journey was heldoff.
Adams was welcomed to the southern border by Sister Norma Pimentel, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande, Cockfield stated.
“As Lent draws to a close, our group was delighted to stand with faith and humanitarian leaders who haveactually devoted their lives to serving the most clingy amongst us and we were excited to goover our work in New York City and checkout brand-new methods to worktogether with leaders in cities throughout the nation,” Cockfield stated in a declaration. “We hope to continue our collaboration with these nationally-recognized Latino leaders and companies as we appearance for concrete options to willpower the crisis at the border.”
