A motorist struck a group of pedestrians and hurt 10 individuals in New York City on Tuesday while trying to leave from authorities, authorities stated.
The event happened at an crossway in Midtown Manhattan, around 5: 30 p.m. after the New York City Police Department reacted to a report of a taken lorry. Police had followed the motorist of the car “at a low rate of speed duetothefactthat of the heavy traffic” when the motorist veryfirst hit a bicyclist, Deputy Chief James Kehoe stated.
The chauffeur then clashed with a taxi priorto installing a pathway and striking numerous pedestrians, according to Kehoe. The motorist then made a U-turn within the crossway and drove onto the incorrect side of the street, striking another automobile.
Kehoe stated the suspect was apprehended by civilians and was held till officers shownup. The chauffeur was recognized as a 20-year-old male who did not have a New York state license.
“Upon preliminary evaluation of this event, it does not appear to have any connection to terrorist activity,” Kehoe stated throughout a news conference.
