Former President Donald Trump took aim at the U.S. women’s national team’s performance in the World Cup, accusing the team of being “openly hostile” to the United States after they were ousted from the major tournament by Sweden.
“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to the our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden. Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close,” Trump shared on Sunday on Truth Social, his social media platform, adding in all-caps that “woke equals failure” and appearing to specifically criticize soccer star Megan Rapinoe.
The team’s loss marked the earliest exit it has ever made at a major tournament, reaching the semifinals in all but one World Cup and Olympics.
