Joe Rogan believes Petr Yan oughtto haveactually gotten the nod over Sean O’Malley at UFC 280, and he questions about the significance of Yan’s takedowns in the wake of the close result.
Yan (16-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) lost a questionable split choice to O’Malley (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) this past Saturday in Abu Dhabi, which turned heads, consistingof ex-lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.
While Rogan confesses he idea Yan won the battle, he credits O’Malley for the damage he was able to cause. However, Rogan thinks it comes down to the effect of the 6 takedowns Yan scored over the course of 15 minutes.
“He was definitely in it versus Petr Yan, who’s a previous champ and one of the finest in the department, by far the No. 1 competitor” Rogan stated on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “It was a really close battle, and he certainly hurt Petr on several celebrations, captured him with that huge knee, rocked him.
