LAS VEGAS – Josh Emmett is relieved his corner kept faith in him throughout a one-sided loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC on ABC 5.
After falling brief of the interim featherweight title vs. Yair Rodriguez in February, Emmett (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) hadahardtime in his bounce-back battle when he suffered a uneven consentaneous choice defeat to Topuria (14-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) on June 24 in Jacksonville, Fla.
With the battle apparently chose by the midway point, some viewers called for Emmett’s corner at Team Alpha Male to toss in the towel and conserve him from more damage. It didn’t occur, and Emmett’s face was a reflection of 43 substantial strikes landed to the head.
