The Juan Soto saga has finally reached its end and the New York Mets have emerged victorious!
On Sunday night, ESPN’s Jeff Passan and other baseball insiders reported that Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets. The contract breaks the $700 million Shohei Ohtani signed for with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023, as Soto now holds the largest deal in professional sports history.
Soto’s contract also reportedly includes no deferred money, with escalators that could reach above $800 million when all is said and done.
That is … so much money. And the Mets reportedly beat out the Yankees’ bid by just five million! Truly a wild end to the months-long saga.
Here’s how MLB fans reacted to Soto’s monster, historic contract.
