SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Clemson football’s nationwide champion hopes might haveactually blown away on windy night at Notre Dame Stadium.

The fifth-ranked Tigers were controlled Saturday night by Notre Dame, 35-14, as gusts of up to 35 milesperhour swirled in the historical arena. Falling to the unranked Fighting Irish  will make Clemson a longshot to get back into position for the College Football Playoff with just 3 videogames staying in the routine season and then the ACC champion videogame.

Things began gradually for the Tigers and didn’t enhance.

Notre Dame obstructed a punt at the end of Clemson’s initially ownership and returned it 19 lawns for a goal to set the disturbed phase.

Late in the 2nd quarter, the Fighting Irish had perhaps the most-important drive of the videogame, marching 78 backyards on 11 plays. Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne scored on a 5-backyard goal with simply 38 seconds left in the half. The Irish ran it 10 times on the ownership and just dealtwith 3rd down assoonas. Instead simply a seven-point lead going into the 3rd quarter and not much occurring on offense for either group, it was a 14-0 lead that provide the Irish momentum going into break.

Clemson’s offense sputtered in the 3rd quarter and quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei was taken out for the 2nd time in 2 videogames, providing method to freshman Cade Klubnik. Uiagalelei was 13-for-19 passing however for just 78 lawns at the time. He couldn’t link with anything even reasonably deep.

But Klubnik was an instant catastrophe, throwing an interception from his own 7-lawn line to set up Notre Dame with a goal for a 21-0 lead. Uiagalelei went back in on the next series and tossed an interception that was returned 96 lawns for a  goal by Benjamin Morrison that ended any opportunity of an notlikely resurgence.
