It was a wild week in the SEC as two of the five teams tied for first place suffered crushing losses.
The biggest giant to fall was the Georgia Bulldogs, who were soundly beaten at Ole Miss 28-10. UGA now has two conference losses and it is unlikely the ‘Dawgs will reach the SEC title game.
LSU lost for the second game in a row, this time to Alabama, effectively ending the Tigers hopes of reaching the SEC title game and probably the college football playoff.
Other teams with big wins this week were Missouri over OU, Tennessee over Hail State and South Carolina over Vandy.
Four SEC teams had a bye this week.
As for Texas, last Saturday’s bye looked to have recharged the Horns and QB Quinn Ewers. Ewers had his best game of the year, going 19 of 27 for 333 yards, 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
