The Baltimore Orioles formally passed the torch on its tradition No. 7 jersey on Wednesday, as the household of Cal Ripken Sr. offered the green light for novice shortstop Jackson Holliday to wear the famous number.
Holliday, the leading possibility in the MLB and kid of previous MLB All-Star Matt Holliday, got called up to the majors this week to start his fiercely preparedfor profession with Baltimore.
Once he takes the field, Holliday will wear the No. 7, which hasn’t been used by an Orioles gamer, coach or supervisor because it was used by Ripken Sr.’s boy, Billy Ripken, after his daddy was fired as Baltimore’s supervisor in 1988.
