Alexanda Kotey, 38, pleaded guilty last September to 8 criminal charges relating to the kidnapping, abuse and beheading of IS captives in Syria. Kotey, initially from London, revealed no feeling as judge Thomas Selby Ellis provided his decision. Judge Ellis explained his actions as “egregious, violent and inhumane”. Of Kotey’s victims, the judge stated: “These were not detainees of war, these weren’t soldiers in the field…they were soldiers for great.” The judge stated Kotey “seems to have some regret” and had provided to fulfill his victims’ households. “If there is [an afterlife] perhaps you can compensation there,” the judge stated. Kotey decreased an invite to speak in court, stating he had absolutelynothing more to include to a letter he had sentout to the judge priorto the sentencing.
