Amazon asks federal judge to dismiss the FTC’s antitrust claim versus the business

Attorneys for Amazon on Friday asked a federal judge to dismiss the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust claim versus the e-commerce huge, arguing the company is assaulting policies that advantage customers and competitors.

Amazon’s action came more than 2 months after the FTC — signedupwith by 17 states — submitted the historical problem versus the Seattle-based business, declaring it pumpsup costs and suppresses competitors in what the company calls the “online warehousestore market” and in the field of “online market services.”

In its 31-page filing made in a federal court in Washington state, Amazon pressed back, arguing the conduct that the FTC hasactually identified anti-competitive consists of typical retail practices that advantage customers.

The FTC’s problem, submitted in September, implicated the business of interesting in anti-competitive practices through procedures that prevent third-party sellers from offering lower rates for items on non-Amazon websites.
