RIO DE JANEIRO — A Brazilian federal court on Monday promoted the suspension of an ecological license for what would be the biggest open-pit gold mine in the country’s Amazon jungle, dealing a blow to the Canada-based business behind the task.
Belo Sun Mining Corp. was appealing the verysame court’s 2017 ruling, which discovered that the business’s assessment with regional Indigenous individuals and researchstudy on the job’s socio-environmental effects didn’t fulfill the requirements needed by the National Indian Foundation.
