BRUSSELS — The European Commission hasactually enforced a fine of 337.5 million euros ($366 million) on food business Mondelez, the owner of Oreo cookies and other treat brandnames, for blocking sales of its items inbetween EU member states, the bloc’s executive arm stated on Thursday.

Mondelez owns the Cadbury and Toblerone chocolate brandnames as well as Oreo and Chips Ahoy cookies, Triscuit crackers and Perfect Snacks nutrition bars.

The Commission stated Mondelez attempted to prevent that cross-border trade duetothefactthat that might lead to lower costs. It stated this hurt customers who end up paying more for chocolate, biscuits and coffee.
