Federal districtattorneys implicate a New Mexico female of scams in oil and gas royalty case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico businesswoman is implicated of defrauding the U.S. federalgovernment and 2 Native American people of taxes and royalties due to them for oil and gas that her business drawnout from rented federal and tribal lands.

Federal districtattorneys revealed this week that Teresa McCown justrecently was prosecuted by a grand jury on numerous wire scams charges and offenses of the Federal Oil and Gas Royalty Management Act. She was launched from custody earlier this month. A trial date has yet to be setup.

A phone number noted for McCown went unanswered Saturday. It was not rightaway clear from court records if she had an lawyer who might speak on her behalf.

Federal authorities state McCown regularly underreported oil and gas production from the lands in concerns over a duration of years start in 2017.

Records suggest her organizations — M&M Production & Operation Inc. and Shoreline Oil & Gas Company — haveactually been operating in northwestern New Mexico’s San Juan Basin because the early 1990s.
