PARIS — France is sendingout military forces to disperse water on the French Indian Ocean area of Mayotte, which is dealingwith an unmatched water crisis triggered by the island cluster’s most extreme dryspell in years.

Troops with the French Foreign Legion and French navy based in the area will work with regional authorities to makesure water products to regional populations, the Defense Ministry stated in a declaration on Thursday.
