Harmful smog chokes North, world’s 4th worst level in Chiang Mai

The suffocating blanket of hazardous smog in Chiang Mai is assoonas onceagain obscuring the renowned Doi Suthep mountain from close variety. Most provinces in the North were blanketed with harmful red-coded levels of PM2.5 on Monday earlymorning, with Chiang Mai ranked the city with the 4th worst air contamination in the whole world. The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Gistda) reported at 8am on Monday that 11 provinces were dealingwith red (seriously damaging) levels of particle matter 2.5 micrometres and less in size (PM2.5), varying from 82.1 to 158.8 microgrammes per cubic metre of air over the past 24 hours. The safe limit is at 37.5µg/m³. The worst level, 158.8, was determined in Chiang Rai, followed by 141.
