PRISTINA, Kosovo — Kosovo authorities on Wednesday stated they would enforce the usage of the nation’s currency, the euro, and eliminate the usage of surrounding Serbia’s dinar in the north where most of the ethnic Serb minority lives.

Kosovo’s Central Bank Governor Ahmet Ismaili stated beginning Thursday, brand-new guidelines on regional deals in euros would be used in the northern towns, and all monetary organizations there needto register in the next month. Four banks and 15 monetary organizations usage Serbia’s dinar.

The guv stated the brand-new guidelines were not targeting Serbia’s dinar.

But the choice has stimulated issue amongst Western powers fearing more stress in Kosovo’s relations with Serbia. They have advised Pristina to delay the relocation.
