Boonchob Sutthamanaswong, long-term secretary for the Labour Ministry, stated labour workplaces in 60 provinces had justrecently surveyed labour need amongst 32,359 operators in the tourist sector. Of them, 1,817 services still required 9,763 employees, he stated. The leading 5 provinces where employees in the tourist sector are in high need are Phuket (3,648 employees in need), Chiang Mai (858), Chon Buri (594), Phangnga (410), and Surat Thani (349). The types of employees lookedfor by managers are receptionists, porters, waiters, cleaners and housemaids, chefs, cookingarea employees, cashiers, and accountingprofessionals.
