The United States has revealed a variety of actions to battle Russian efforts to impact the 2024 governmental election, consistingof the indictment of 2 state media workers implicated of covertly financing a UnitedStates media business to plant political departments.
In an indictment unsealed on Wednesday, the US Justice Department declared that 2 staffmembers of Russia’s RT utilized shell business and phony identities to pay $10m to a media outlet in Tennessee as part of a Moscow-directed impact operation.
Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva face charges of conspiracy to wash cash and conspiracy to break the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
US Attorney General Merrick B Garland stated the impact project had targeted UnitedStates audiences with “hidden Russian federalgovernment messaging”.
