President Droupadi Murmu concluded her three-day tour of Gujarat on October 11, where she visited revered temples, religious and ecological landmarks, and participated in a key academic event in Ahmedabad.
The President arrived at Hirasar airport near Rajkot on Thursday evening, beginning her visit with a packed itinerary that took her across the state. On October 9, she offered prayers at the revered Somnath Mahadev temple, one of the twelve jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva, located near Veraval in Gir Somnath district.
She performed the ‘Someshwar Mahapuja’ and poured water from the River Ganga on the deity. She also paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at his statue on the temple premises, acknowledging his role in the temple’s post-independence reconstruction.
