It appears that for the 2nd year in a row, the No. 1 choice in the draft might be a prolonged Frenchman.

Last season, the Spurs chosen French phenom Victor Wembanyama at No. 1. He went on to lead the NBA in obstructs throughout the routine season, win NBA Rookie of the Year (he made all 99 first-place votes), and surface 2nd for Defensive Player of the Year — behind fellow French huge guy Rudy Gobert.

Sarr is a 7-foot-1 19-year-old who most justrecently played for the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s National Basketball League. He balanced 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 obstructs in 31 videogames this past season.

However, making a big dive up the oddsboard and into the top-pick discussion is UConn’s Clingan, whose chances moved from +2500 to +1200 over the past week.

As a sophomore, he balanced 13 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 obstructs, anchoring the Huskies’ defense, as UConn won back-to-back NCAA titles.
