Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer hasactually maintained and promoted assistants Freddie Roach and Robert Gillespie.
DeBoer revealed Wednesday that Roach, the Crimson Tide’s defensive line coach, will serve as partner head coach. Gillespie will stay as running backs coach with the included title of assistant head coach.
Both assistants worked under DeBoer’s predecessor, Nick Saban.
“After conference both of these guys, it was extremely clear to me that keeping Freddie and G as part of the personnel was going to be crucial to our success,” DeBoer stated. “These guys have excellent relationships with our gamers, are exceptional employers and have tested to be some of the finest coaches in the nation.”
Roach played for Alabama and has invested the past 4 seasons as a Tide assistant. Gillespie is approaching his 4th year in Tuscaloosa.
The monetary terms are waitingfor approval by the Board of Trustees.
Two of DeBoer’s previous Washington assistants, offensive planner Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff, left for the verysame tasks with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
