Astros 1B Yuli Gurriel out for rest of World Series with knee injury

If the Houston Astros are going to win the World Series, they’re going to have to do so without their beginning veryfirst baseman.

Yuli Gurriel will missouton the last 2 videogames of the World Series (if essential) due to a knee injury he suffered in Game 5. The Astros eliminated Gurriel from the active lineup and changed him with catcher Korey Lee ahead of Saturday’s Game 6.

The level of Gurriel’s knee injury isn’t understood, however Astros supervisor Dusty Baker stated that Gurriel and the group “tried whatever” to get him to play. 

“He wasn’t weeping, however he had tears in his eyes,” Baker stated of Gurriel. “You might inform how severely he desired to play. He simply couldn’t, and we had to change him.”

Gurriel’s numbers at the plate took a noteworthy dip this year, striking .242 with a .647 OPS, while including 8 homers and 53 RBIs.
