Caitlin Clark set a WNBA record with 19 helps in Indiana‘s last videogame before the break, including another plume to her cap.
This comes on the heels of Clark being left off the Team USA lineup for the upcoming Paris Olympics, as well as the newly-minted All-Star decreasing to getinvolved in the upcoming 3-point competitors — sendingout basketball fans into a craze.
Colin Cowherd described why Clark’s lack from the Paris Games group and in the renowned 3-point contest is “silly” thinkingabout all Clark hasactually done for the sport currently on Thursday’s episode of “The Herd.”
“She’s a novice on a bad group,” Cowherd stated of Clark. “She has scored or helped on 66 points — 71% of the Fevers points. That’s the most ever in league history. She’s breaking records every week, so part of the silliness of not permitting her on the Olympic group is [that] she was a extremely rapidly enhancing gamer, and now you kind of appearance silly.
“She’s probably the finest playmaker in the league [and] perhaps the second-best 3-point shooter in the league. I wear’t understand, [those attributes] appear important in Olympic competitors.”
Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.2 helps and 1.5 takes per videogame through 26 videogames (all begins).
Paul Pierce responded to Clark’s record-breaking videogame on Thursday’s “Undisputed,” stating that there’s no doubt the 22-year-old is a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year honors.
“That put her ahead of the race for Rookie of the Year for me,” Pierce stated. “Angel Reese was in the lead duetothefactthat she beat Las Vegas, double-double. … Now Caitlin Clark comes [in with] 19 helps [for a] WNBA record. She retook the lead.”
Reese’s double-double streak justrecently came to an end after Chicago Sky’s loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday.
“It’s videogame by videogame, so this is gonna come down to the wire,” Pierce stated about the progressing Rookie of the Year chances.
Clark now heads to Phoenix for the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, when she’ll play versus the U.S. Olympic group heading to Paris 2024 led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart.
