The videogame clock will continue to stop on veryfirst downs in Division III football for at least another year after the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Committee authorized a suggestion from the Football Rules Committee on Thursday.

The greatest college football guideline modification for this season in the other departments will have the videogame clock continuing to run when a initially down is acquired, otherthan in the last 2 minutes of either half. Previously, the clock stopped when a initially down was acquired and rebooted on the referee’s signal.

National manager of authorities Steve Shaw stated Division III administrators and coaches desire to see how the brand-new guideline impacts videogames in the upper departments.

Keeping the clock running will take an approximated 7 to 8 plays out of videogames and, hence, minimize the number of times gamers are exposed to prospective injury. Division III coaches and administrators who opposed the guideline stated they were pleased with the present number of plays in their videogame.

There were an average of 172 plays per videogame in Division III last season compared with 178 in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
