Nelson Cruz finished his tasks tossing out the ritualistic veryfirst pitch before the Seattle Mariners opened the season versus the Boston Red Sox and strolled over to a little stand set up behind home plate.

There, Cruz signed a ritualistic one-day agreement enabling him to retire as a member of the Mariners company before Thursday night’s season opener.

Cruz revealed his retirement following last season. He invested parts of 19 seasons in the majors with 8 various companies. His longest stint was the 8 seasons he invested with Texas early in his profession.

But Cruz invested 4 prominent and impactful seasons in Seattle from 2015-18. He was a three-time All-Star in Seattle, led the league with 119 RBIs in 2017 and hit 163 homers in his 4 seasons — more than he hit in parts of 8 seasons with Texas.

Cruz stated a unique connection with Seattle is why he chose to have his retirement associated with the Mariners.

“I constantly determined myself as a Mariner, even however I played more years as a Ranger,” Cruz stated.

Cruz completed his profession with 464 home runs, a .274 batting average and 1,325 RBIs. He appeared in 49 videogames last season with San Diego in his last year.
