USFL Week 7 highlights: Birmingham Stallions beat New Orleans Breakers

Week 7 of the USFL season is filled with matches that bring severe playoff ramifications, and we’ve got you covered with all the action from a Saturday slate that consistsof a set of essential contests.

First, the Birmingham Stallions (5-2) beat the New Orleans Breakers (4-3) 24-20 in a fight for veryfirst location in the South Division. The Stallions held control for much of the videogame with Alex McGough scoring a set of goals. But the Breakers had a Hail Mary opportunity to win the videogame. However, the Stallions came away with an interception on the videogame’s last play to makesure the triumph.

Later, the Pittsburgh Maulers (2-4) will attempt to bounce back from a nothing defeat in Week 6 and take down the Philadelphia Stars (3-3) (9 p.m. ET on FS1 and the FOX Sports app).

Birmingham Stallions 24, New Orleans Breakers 20

All Alex into the end zone

After the Stallions kept the Breakers out of the end zone and required them to kick a field objective on the videogame’s opening drive, they reacted with a rating of their own. A seven-play, 60-yard drive resulted in a goal by Stallions QB Alex McGough that provided Birmingham a 7-3 lead.

Recovery to backflip

The Stallions were about to offer the ball back to the Breakers, however a muffed punt by New Orleans permitted Birmingham CB Bryan Mills to get the ball back for his group. To commemorate, Mills did a backflip and the Stallions extended their lead to 10-3 in the 2nd quarter.

Poling power!

Quentin Poling provided a substantial hit on a sack for the Stallions to assistance Birmingham’s defense continue to control in the veryfirst half.

The Stallions QB hit Jace Sternberger in stride for a 20-yard goal pass that assisted Birmingham extend its lead to 24-9 with a minute left in the 3rd quarter. 

Breaking back in

The Breakers made it a one-score videogame early in the 4th quarter when McLeod Bethel-Thompson discovered Lee Morris over the middle for a 10-yard goal pass. On the following play, Bethel-Thompson went over the middle onceagain and discovered Sage Surratt for the two-point conversion that made it a 24-17 videogame.

Matthew Coghlin’s 55-yard field objective with approximately 6 minutes left to assistance the Breakers make it a 24-20.
