March 21 (UPI) — An Alabama lady who fabricated her own kidnapping has pleaded guilty to criminal charges after the scam triggered a nationwide search last summertime.
Carlee Russell pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon to a set of misdemeanor counts for filing incorrect cops reports, and she took responsibility for her actions.
“I desire to truly saysorry for my actions, and the resulting unfavorable effect caused onto others. I made a tomb error while attempting to battle through different psychological concerns and tension,” Russell stated. “I’m exceptionally sorry for the panic, worry and different variety of unfavorable feelings that were experienced throughout the country.”
“I desire to particularly acknowledge and take responsibility for the discomfort and humiliation that I caused upon my household, my church household, goodfriends, next-doorneighbors, neighborhood, and all of those who were straight included in search efforts for me,” Russell included.
Russell will be on monitored probation for a year, should payback practically $18,000 in restitution to the City of Hoover and total 100 hours of neighborhood service.
