Defense Secretary Cancels Travel Plans After Hospitalization

The Pentagon hasactually canceled prepares for U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to travel to Brussels for secret conferences on Ukraine and for talks with NATO allies, simply a day after he was hospitalized onceagain for problems after prostate cancer surgicaltreatment.

A U.S. defense authorities informs VOA that the conferences on Ukraine through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, set for Wednesday, will now be held essentially.

There is no word yet on whether Austin will getinvolved in that conference, or on how the Defense Department will manage a NATO defense ministers conference arranged for Thursday.

Monday’s choice to cancel the journey comes less than 24 hours after defense authorities revealed Austin was back in the healthcarefacility with what the Pentagon explained as “an emergent bladder concern.”

Officials at Walter Reed Military Medical Center stated Sunday that Austin was confessed to the healthcenter’s important care system “for helpful care and close tracking” after goingthrough tests.
