Disney, Apple pull marketing on X over anti-Semitic Musk remarks

Nov. 18 (UPI) — Apple and the Walt Disney Company endedupbeing the newest significant corporations to suspend marketing on social media platform X, when both cut ties late Friday.

The news came in action to anti-Semitic remarks made earlier in the week by X owner Elon Musk on the platform previously understood as Twitter.

The European Union, IBM and Lions Gate Entertainment all validated Friday they were rightaway suspending marketing on the website.

The X account belonging to Apple hadactually been cleaned tidy of all posts as of 12 p.m. EST Saturday, regardlessof keeping 9.6 million fans. The California-based tech business had not released an authorities declaration on the circumstance as of Saturday afternoon.

A report released Thursday by the web-based non-profit company Media Matters discovered ads on X from significant brandnames were being positioned next to posts promoting the ideology of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

“We haveactually seen an worrying boost in disinformation and hate speech on anumberof social media platforms in current weeks, and X is definitely rather reliable on that,” European Commission representative Johannes Bahrke informed pressreporters Friday.
