May 19 (UPI) — A helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran suffered a crash landing Sunday, according to state-run media.
Though Raisi’s condition was unsure, Pir-Hossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent, statement Monday earlymorning that rescue groups have showedup at the website of the wreckage and that “the condition is not excellent,” Iran’s authorities IRNA news firm reported.
Some 73 recuse groups hadactually been released to reach the website of the crash in the Varzaqan area of Iran.
Raisi, 63, was returning Sunday from a see to the Iranian border with Azerbaijan, where he inaugurated a dam on the Aras river with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, when his helicopter went down inthemiddleof thick fog.
“We hope Almighty God will return the appreciated, respected president and his entourage to the arms of the country,” Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated in a declaration.
“Everyone must hope for the health of these individuals who are serving the Iranian country,” he included. “The country doesn’t requirement to be concerned or distressed as the administration of the nation will not be interrupted at all.”
Aliyev stated he was “profoundly bothered” by news of the crash.
“Our prayers to Allah Almighty are with President Ebrahim Raisi and the accompanying delegation,” he stated on X.
