Houston braces for more heavy rain as overruning rivers force evacuations

May 4 (UPI) — The Houston location is dealingwith more heavy rain over the weekend as the area hasahardtime to cope with prevalent and “historic” flooding that has setoff evacuation orders.

The National Weather Service in Houston stated that while Saturday would see some separated thunderstorms, the area would face a brand-new, considerable danger lateron in the day and into Sunday when it will be socked with “another round of heavy rains” following several rounds of heavy rain, high winds and lightning this week.

The heavy rain led to extreme flooding in the Houston location lateron Saturday. Harris County authorities stated at least 178 individuals were saved from automobiles and homes. No deaths or major injuries were reported.

Flood views stay in result for the location city upuntil Sunday afternoon as 1 to 3 inches or more of extra rain is possible Saturday night into Sunday. Moderate to “major” flooding is anticipated to continue along the San Jacinto and Trinity rivers into next week.

“The premises are incredibly saturated, so any extra rains will mostlikely outcome in flooding,” forecaster alerted.

State transport authorities stayed fanned out throughout Houston on Saturday to fight prevalent roadway flooding, consistingof along the significant Interstate 69/U.S. Hwy. 59 passage, where the East Fork of the San Jacinto River had overspread the highway.
