Jan. 14 (UPI) — King Frederik X hasactually taken the throne of Denmark after the abdication of his mom, Queen Margrethe II, the royal household shared on social media.
Margrethe, 83, had remarkably revealed on New Year’s Eve that she would retire from her function after more than a half-century on the throne. She is the longest-serving king in Danish history.
“For half a century, with our typical heritage as a beginning point, she has moved with the times,” Frederik stated, speaking from the terrace of Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. “She will constantly be keptinmind as an amazing ruler. My mom has, like coupleof others, handled to combine with her kingdom.” Frederik stated he too hopes to be a “unifying” king.
