Dec. 27 (UPI) — Russian strikes in Ukraine’s Kherson area triggered severe electrical interruptions which have left up to 70% of citizens without power Wednesday, according to regional authorities.
“Due to Russian shelling, the energy facilities of Kherson was severely harmed. 70% of customers stay without electricalenergy,” Kherson local guv Oleksandr Prokudin published to Telegram.
Prokudin stated efforts are underway to bringback power.
“Energy employees are currently working. Now they are figuringout the degree of damage, after that they rightaway start emergencysituation remediation work,” Prokudin stated.
Though the Kherson area was freed from Russian forces in November of 2022, at least 400 individuals haveactually been eliminated in Russian strikes consideringthat then.
The Ukrainian air force stated air defenses obstructed 32 Iranian-built Shahed suicide drones inbetween Tuesday and Wednesday.
