Generative AI isn’t all bad. That’s the message from a group of artists trying to get more input from creatives in the legislation and policies surrounding the questionable innovation. 

In an open letter released by Creative Commons, seventy-nine artists are petitioning the US Congress to engage more with artists in its conversations and on-going hearings. 

AI art generators have showed a controversial concern for artists, designers, and material developers, with lotsof deriding the tools as just throwingup existing works at finest, and information theft at worst . However, according to the signees, “this varied, pioneering work of specific human artists is being misrepresented.”

The artists behind the letter think the dispute around generative AI art has now endedupbeing “polarized and damaging”. Claiming that numerous artists won’t usage GenAI for worry of the neighborhood reaction, the authors go as far to state that “ artists who usage AI [are] dealingwith harassment and even death hazards.” 

Representation is the option proposed by Creative Commons. From the copyright claims versus the likes of Midjourney and Stability AI to developers slamming Adobe’s AI training information, it’s no trick that artists have hadahardtime with the increase of AI artwork.
