May 7 (UPI) — The United States Tennis Association hasactually been bought to pay $9 million to Kylie McKenzie, a 25-year-old previous tennis prodigy, for stoppingworking to secure her from sexual attack at the USTA’s training center in Florida.
A federal jury pondered for less than 3 hours Monday before granting McKenzie $3 million in countervailing damages and $6 million in punitive damages over USTA’s efforts to keep McKenzie, who was 19-years-old at the time, from speaking out.
“I feel verified,” McKenzie, who is presently working to restore her tennis profession, informed The Athletic on Monday. “It was really hard, however I feel now that it was all worth it. I hope I can be an example for other ladies to speak out even when it’s hard.”
The USTA examined McKenzie’s declares in 2018 before suspending and then shooting coach Anibal Aranda, who was 34-years-old at the time and rejected touching the tennis gamer wrongly. According to the suit, the USTA stoppedworking to divulge Aranda had attacked one of their staffmembers anumberof years earlier.
