2022 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings: the top names beyond Josh Allen

3 minutes, 20 seconds Read

Tom Brady bucked the trend of top fantasy quarterbacks needing to be able to give you something with their legs, as he finished third in total points last season. That’s what a 43-touchdown season will do.

Matthew Stafford was another statue to crack the top five with his 41 touchdowns. Those guys are fading from existence, however, as the mobile quarterback continues to dominate fantasy. The only question here is which to take first.

Josh Allen showed what he’s capable of in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes, who’s still great. And Lamar Jackson will also be a factor in his return from injury. Those are just a few of the guys named below in this ranking of the top 25 quarterbacks in fantasy football.

1

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Syndication Democrat And Chronicle

2021 Fantasy PPG: 24.6 (1st)

2021 Stats: 4,407 pass yds, 36 td, 15 int & 763 rush yds, 6 td in 17 games

Allen gives fantasy owners the best of both worlds: high-end production through the air and on the ground. That makes him the top option.

2

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 23.3 (2nd)

2021 Stats: 5,014 pass yds, 38 td, 15 int & 302 rush yds, 3 td in 17 games

Last season might’ve only been the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what the young Herbert is capable of doing.

3

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

2021 Fantasy PPG: 22.0 (5th)

2021 Stats: 4,828 pass yds, 37 td, 13 int & 381 rush yds, 2 td in 17 games

If Mahomes has to run more in the absence of Tyreek Hill, he can and will. I don’t see him allowing a steep drop in this team’s offensive production.

4

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 22.2 (4th)

2021 Stats: 3,787 pass yds, 24 td, 10 int & 423 rush yds, 5 td in 14 games

Murray might’ve been a a couple spots higher if not for the DeAndre Hopkins suspension. The Cards have struggled in the past without their WR1.

5

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 21.1 (7th)

2021 Stats: 2,882 pass yds, 16 td, 13 int & 767 rush yds, 2 td in 12 games

Like Murray, Jackson could be a few spots higher, but he takes a hit because the Ravens traded his best wide receiver. He’ll need a committee of young wideouts to step up.

6

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 21.4 (6th)

2021 Stats: 3,144 pass yds, 16 td, 9 int & 784 rush yds, 10 td in 15 games

The addition of A.J. Brown is huge for Hurts, who has much to prove as a passer. Regardless, he’ll be fantasy relevant because of what he does on the ground.

7

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 20.5 (10th)

2021 Stats: 4,611 pass yds, 34 td, 14 int & 118 rush yds, 2 td in 16 games

Burrow has some of the best weapons of any quarterback in the league and could approach 5,000 yards in 2022.

8

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 22.7 (3rd)

2021 Stats: 5,316 pass yds, 43 td, 12 int & 81 rush yds, 2 td in 17 games

It’s unrealistic to expect Brady to set a career-high in passing yards and throw 40 touchdowns again. But he’ll still put up big numbers.

9

Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 17.8 (13th)

2021 Stats: 3,113 pass yds, 25 td, 6 int & 183 rush yds, 2 td in 14 games

Wilson was amazing last season before a hand injury sidelined him a few games. I expect that Wilson to show up this season.

10

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

2021 Fantasy PPG: 20.4 (11th)

2021 Stats: 4,886 pass yds, 41 td, 17 int & 43 rush yds, 0 td in 17 games

Stafford is a year more familiar with his teammates and coaches in LA, and he has so many weapons at his disposal.
