An American Airlines traveler was sentenced Friday after her disruptive habits triggered her flight to return to the gate and she continued to deploy the emergencysituation slide priorto being eliminated from the jet.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York, Cynthia McKnight, 24, of Rochester, New York, was on a flight from Buffalo to Chicago on April 19, 2022, when she started acting strongly towards other guests and team.
“After the airplane’s doors were closed, and while the airplane was preparing to leave, McKnight made her method to the front of the airplane and engaged in a spoken run-in with one traveler, then spat on another guest. As a result, the airplane was needed to return to the gate,” a declaration from the workplace stated. “McKnight then tried to exit the airplane as it was in movement on the ground, pressing a flight attendant in the procedure who had tried to avoid her from opening an airplane door. McKnight was able to open an airplane door, which released the airplane’s emergencysituation slide, and left the airplane.”
