In a thrilling and significant Indianapolis 500 surface, Josef Newgarden and Pato O’Ward duked it out on the last laps, trading the lead with each other. But Sunday’s 108th race ended, onceagain, in outright heartbreak for O’Ward, who completed 2nd behind now-back-to-back winner Newgarden.

O’Ward hasactually come close to winning The Greatest Spectacle in Racing in past years too, completing 2nd in 2022, 4th in 2021 and 6th in 2020.

And in the Arrow McLaren chauffeur’s post-race interview, his destruction was painfully apparent, and he appeared to be holding back his feelings while speaking with NBC. Still, O’Ward provided a sophisticated, yet heartbreaking interview as the 2024 Indy 500 runner-up.
