NEW YORK — The profane feminist site Jezebel is making a return less than a month after it was shut down.
Paste Magazine, a digital pop culture publication based in Atlanta, revealed Wednesday that it was purchasing Jezebel.com from G/O Media, which closed it and laid off its personnel earlier this month.
Jezebel’s “acquisition suggests that the vital info and material that Jezebel readers have come to rely on will live on,” Paste Founder and Editor-in-Chief Josh Jackson stated in a prepared declaration. “Jezebel’s special voice and dedication to storytelling make it a ideal addition to our portfolio.”
G/0 Media stated it was shutting down Jezebel after attempting unsuccessfully for months to discover a purchaser for the website, which was veryfirst introduced in 2007 by Gawker Media and quickly got an impassioned following with its mix of searing commentary on gender politics and edgy pop culture protection.
