Ahead of the release of his long-awaited launching album, Revanchist, Evian Christ releases the thrilled ‘Yxguden,’ including Bladee.

Back in 2016, for the 5th instalment of his famous Trance Party, Joshua Leary, the Ellesmere Port manufacturer and DJ understood as Evian Christ, scheduled manufacturer Yung Sherman alongwith Mssingno, Total Freedom, Kamixlo, Manara and others for a night he would dub ‘Trance Welbeck Vs. Progressive Welbeck.’ Two years lateron, for Trance Party Vs. Year0001, he would book him onceagain, just this time alongwith none other than Drain Gang CEO Bladee. It was the start of a stunning relationship inbetween the artists, a relationship that progressed into partnership for the veryfirst time on ‘Yxguden,’ the blissful peak of Evian Christ’s long-awaited launching album, Revanchist.

The track’s title equates from Swedish as ‘Axe God,’ a recommendation to a character portrayed in a Bronze Age petroglyph at Flyhov, Sweden, who serves as the main character of both the album and the ‘Yxguden’ video, directed and including the work of famous artist Micha Klein, probably the producer of the Y2K visual. Interpolating the hook from Hixxy’s pleased hardcore workofart ‘More & More,’ alloying its sugar-rush hook with Drainer esotericism, Evian Christ and Bladee conjure a skyrocketing anthem for the axe god, playing eye-lid twitching ecstasy off versus cleans of water environment. “When I sentout it to David, he stated it sounded like a Calvin Harris tune that’s been immersed in the seabed,” remembers Leary of the veryfirst time he revealed the track to designer David Rudnick.

As the co-director of the ‘Yxugden’ video and the mastermind behind all of the visuals of Revanchist, which collage hyper-saturated hypnotictrance modifies of paintings by Norwegian artist Lars Hertervig with Yxuden, the piper from the old BT logodesign and a crystalline child, Rudnick shares in Leary’s love of the Bronze Age figure, casting the god as sign for delight and vigor, the whipping heart of Revanchist. “It endedupbeing part of the furnishings in my brain,” states Leary of Yxguden. “He’s the leadcharacter of the record insomeway, in some method.
