Air Force airman eliminated by Florida deputies who were at incorrect home, lawyer states

An Air Force airman who was fatally shot at his Okaloosa County, Florida, home Friday was eliminated by a deputy after law enforcement burst into the incorrect home, civil rights lawyer Ben Crump stated Wednesday.

A female stated that she was on a FaceTime video call with Senior Airman Roger Fortson, 23, when he was eliminated and that he was alone and there was no disruption, which law enforcement stated was the factor for the call, Crump stated.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office stated that Friday afternoon, “our deputy reacted to a call of a disruption in development where he experienced an equipped male,” and the deputy shot him.

According to the lady on the FaceTime call, whom Crump did not determine, Fortson heard a knock at his door, asked “Who is it?” got no action and might not see anybody through the peephole, Crump stated in a declaration.
